Youth Clubs

Blackburn with Darwen Healthy Living have recruited two new youth workers to deliver the youth provision in Higher Croft.  They have used the whole of the summer period to run extensive outreach work.  They have worked with Pop Up Church to support the football sessions that were being held on the MUGA.  Sessions are now being held at Roman Road Library every Monday evening at 5.50pm till 7.00pm for young people aged between 8–12-year-olds.  There is also discussions being held with the Churches to deliver youth sessions at both locations

Young people have been recruited for a new youth forum and have been trained in Social Action principles.

The youth forum have all participated in the Youth Ambassador programme (https://www.blackburn.gov.uk/about-council/social-integration) The Youth Forum have discussed their opinions on segregation and have looked at their own identity and what it means to be a young person living in Blackburn with Darwen.

The youth forum has also discussed societies understanding of young people’s issues and whether they can be accepted as a positive element of the community.

All the young people agreed that there is definitely a place for young people to make a difference in today’s society and they potentially can influence change through campaigning.
